Meeting Called to Order at 7:07PM by Bryan Boroughs
Intro of New Residents
Membership Welcoming Committee
- Jane Reed asked for others to join and Carolyn Boroughs said she would assist, others are welcomed to join the committee
Nate Read the Minutes from our 17-Jul-2021 Meeting
Treasurer report read by Nate Johnson (Appendix A)
- No change from July 17th Meeting ($6,564.42)
Grant Updates
- $1,500 received for Curly Leaf treatment as reported in previous treasurer’s report
- $1000 to be received in November from DNR Grant
DNR at Landing (29-Sept)
- Anne Sutton inquired to get a water station at the lake and was notified there are grants to get boat washing station
- Asked to get garbage can at the landing
- Asked DNR to come back and cleanup the tree that had fallen down on the boat launch
Lake Association Due’s / Payment
- To be collected in next scheduled meeting
Curly Leaf / Green Algae
- Dave mentioned weather patterns similar to the Summer of 1988 related to the nutrients in the lake cause the algae. Believes we did a great job treating the curly leaf. Stated Blue Green algae is different from Green algae. Did not receive new water runoff from other areas this year.

- High Water Temps
- More Concentrated Nutrients
- Weather
- Voted to do curly leaf for next year would have to vote on 2023, but were told by Craig that it is a 10 year program
- Brian talked to DNR for copper sulfate permit and was denied due to water clarity
- (Bryan) To look into Muck eaters (Pro-Biotics) reduces the nutrients in the lake, Bryan to do more research and would require a permit
- (Bryan) To look into Planting Reeds helps to filter the water
- Blue Green Algae was a problem throughout Minnesota not just Martha
- Runoff from residence creates blooms, to take into consideration fertilizer being used
Sewer Update
- Meeting Minutes will be posted in the minutes Appendix B
- Every property with a stub will be assess approximately $2,700
- October 12 board meeting (Shortfall $422K, if all pay up front then would go into general) 30 days to make decision. Finance team can then make updates to the tax assement
- Can we hire an attorney and join with Charlotte to look into, financing with there is a bond, county has the right to come back to the residence.
- House to the road is the residence responsibility, road is the counties.
- Committee will meet with the county after assement,

Applying for Grants
- Anne to work Bryan to start the grant process for next year. Lake Survey may or may not be required.
